Hey! I'm Lisa. I'm in Balgonie, SK (near

Regina) and I am a new mom of a 9 month

old daughter. Before baby, I was a long

distance runner and doing yoga, kickboxing, biking and kettlebells on the side as cross-training. Running is a huge part of my identity, so when I had to have 2 abdominal surgeries related to postpartum complications, my body took a huge hit that put me in bedrest and a huge setback in my running goals.

Mentally it was challenging to accept I could barely hold myself upright after, but I have been determined to run again so I have been doing physio, online training, walk/run intervals. My furthest postpartum distance is 3 km so far, but my hope is this June Abs challenge will rebuild my core so I can run 5 km, then 10... then a full marathon again.

I grew up on a farm and yes, the chores never end haha. Good job getting that in after the abs workout!

Today I modified where needed with my arms raised but pointing at my feet for hollow hold, then if there were torso and leg raises, I isolated just legs or just torso. Pushed hard until I was feeling the burn.

My photo of my plank was photo-bombed by my baby crawling in front. I tried haha.

Cool down was a 30 min stroller walk outside to get the mail in town.

Being outdoors makes me smile. Looking out across open fields is calming for me and it calls to what made me a runner in the first place :)

I couldn’t find a bar either and I can’t do a track while watching a baby so I just skipped those and will use the other tests as my comparison for later

👏 So far I have cut out snacking, cut out pop/juice and have been drinking water or pouring from a pot of Yerba Maté green tea all day.

Yesterday I accidentally did the wrong workout oops 😅😬 so I did Absolute Abs - No kettlebell and my abs are still sore!

Plank was 20 seconds but just means lots of room for improvement.

Today I “stayed active” by taking my little baby for her swimming lessons 🏊‍♀️
